CHAPTER FOUR

The light fell across the room in long, coloured bands, settling on the spines of the books along the far wall.

It was just past nine in the morning; the house had not yet woken. Soon enough, Mr. Hargreaves would arrive at the door and the day would begin in earnest.

She wondered, briefly, whether she ought to lock it.

CHAPITRE QUATRE

Flexibility over how much human review you add before publication.

For some use cases, a Luman-translated manuscript may be suitable for internal reading, rights review, editorial assessment, early market testing or publication after the publisher’s own review.

For higher-sensitivity publication workflows, publishers may choose to add native-language review, sample checks, consistency review or a full human proofreading pass. Human review options can be quoted separately based on language, manuscript length, intended use and required turnaround.

Part of the Luman Workflow

Use Translation as a standalone product or as the final stage in a connected workflow.

A title can be assessed through Manuscript Intelligence, checked through Proofreading, then translated into new languages using a cleaner and better-understood source file.

Your manuscripts stay yours.

For a publisher, a manuscript is the asset. Luman is built so that handing one over never means giving anything up.

Never used to train models

Luman does not use your manuscripts, outputs or reports to train, fine-tune or improve its own AI systems. Where third-party providers are involved, we select business, enterprise or API terms that do not permit your content to train their models.

You keep your rights

Luman claims no ownership of what you upload, and unpublished work is treated as confidential. For translations, the rights in the output are assigned to you on full payment.

Confidential by default

Unpublished manuscripts, files and outputs are processed only to deliver the service you asked for. Request deletion at any time, and enterprise teams can add a Data Processing Agreement.

Translation, answered.

What does Luman Translation do?

It translates long-form manuscripts into new languages while keeping you in control of quality, review and publication decisions — so backlist and new titles can reach international readers.

Is it self-service or a managed service?

Both. You can start translation projects directly on the self-service platform — upload, choose a language and go — or run managed projects with onboarding and support for more complex workflows.

Can a human review the translation?

Yes. Optional human review is available on translated output, so you can add an editorial layer before publication when a title warrants it.

Does Translation fit into a wider Luman workflow?

Use it standalone or as the final stage of a connected workflow — assess a manuscript with Manuscript Intelligence, clean it through Proofreading, then translate from a cleaner source file.

How is Luman Translation priced?

Self-service projects can be started directly. For larger programmes and enterprise needs, pricing is discussed with the team — contact demo@lumantechnology.com to talk through your catalogue.
